When water intrusion or pooling water is occurring in your home, outside your home, in your crawl space or basement, a french drain is a great drainage solution. When installed properly, a french drain will redirect the water away to a safe area or a sump pump system. The french drain can also be connected to your existing underground gutter system.

Atlanta Basement French Drain If your basement is flooding or water entry, a french drain is installed below the concrete slab. Holes are drilled into the basement walls to allow water to flow into the drain. The french drain will run into a water basin and then get pumped outside away from the home with a sump pump. The french drain is wrapped in fabric to prevent clogging and covered with gravel. The final stage of a basement french drain is to repour the removed portion of your concrete slab.

Atlanta Crawl Space French Drain Many crawl spaces have water intruding through or below the foundation walls. A common indicator of this problem are stained foundation walls (known as "efflorescence"). Efflorescence looks like white water stains on the concrete. This is a telltale sign of water getting into your foundation walls and breaking down the concrete your walls are made of. A trench is dug along the affected foundation wall(s) and a french drainage system is installed with gravel, filter fabric, sump basin and sump pump. Sometimes instead, we install a french drain outside of your crawl space along the foundation wall(s). This prevents the water from entering your crawl space in the first place.

Exterior french drains can be drained into an outdoor sump pump, but typically drain away from the area above ground.
